GLITZ AND GLAM: Inspired by the fashion and style of classic Hollywood black-and-white films, the couple seized upon the concept of their wedding while watching an episode of “Boardwalk Empire.” “We literally wanted our guests to feel like they were taken back to the early 1900s of Old Hollywood and feel what it may have been like to be at a big party in those days,” says Devan, a graphic designer and owner of Nimbi Creative in Portland.
ROLE PLAYING: The classy reception party was held at the Treasury Ballroom, a former bank that still has its original vault. “Placing the photo booth in front of the vault made everyone feel like they were mobsters robbing a bank,” says Devan. The couple even bought a variety of playful props, including gangster hats, feathered hats, boas, pearl necklaces, and fake guns and money. “The whole day from beginning to end was what I had dreamed up and imagined,” says Devan.
