Out in Front: “Out of all our close friends, we are one of the first couples to be getting married, so I had no idea how much planning it took,” says Meyers, the Portland Trail Blazers’ center. During the Blazers’ season, Elle took over planning, settling on classic rustic décor inspired by French châteaux and Italian villas. “After researching wedding looks, I fell in love with boxwood. So, I was obsessed with my band and bar backdrop,” says Elle.
Twitter Saves the Day: “Meyers’ main request was for our dog, Bella, to be in the wedding,” says Elle of the husky she shares with Meyers. The couple took to Twitter to settle this canine question. “Meyers bet me that if he received 3,000 retweets, Bella would be in the wedding. Sure enough, 35 minutes later, 3,000 retweets was easily passed!” Bella, who also has her own Instagram account, wore a rose collar for her role as ring bearer.
Sentimental Details: “We had asked all our bridal parties and families to write letters to us for our 10th anniversary,” says Elle. “Meyers and I wrote notes to one another to remind us of how we felt at this moment and what we mean to each other. At the ceremony, we put all these letters in a wine box with a bottle of wine to be opened and enjoyed on our 10th.”
