LOCALLY SOURCED: Anvi Bui grew up in Portland so she wanted her wedding to reflect her love for the city. She and her fiancé Brendan McNicholas decided to draw from their favorite local spots for everything from the wedding menu (a Pacific Northwest–inspired menu with a Olympia Provisions charcuterie board) to a cake from their favorite bakery: JaCiva’s. The couple even used their favorite Portland streets as table numbers at the reception.
TRADITIONS: Anvi and Brendan’s wedding honored both of their families by combining traditions from Anvi’s Vietnamese culture and Brendan’s Irish roots. The wedding began with a Vietnamese tea ceremony, where the couple’s families were formally introduced, and featured readings in both Vietnamese and English. The couple exchanged vows in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, and Brendan walked down the aisle to a traditional Irish ballad.
