Styled Shoot
A perfectly bespoke celebration of color, texture and unabashed love

The Bowline Hotel in Astoria served as the scene of a vibrant and colorful styled elopement set on the shores of the Columbia. Inspired by the couple’s love for bold design, Taryn Schubert of Taryn Nancy Photography and Hope Reese of Wrong Number Floral Co. imagined a visual feast that celebrated individuality. “We want to inspire others who love bold design to lean into the playfulness that color brings to an event,” says Schubert, explaining the shoot’s animated essence. Sami and Kylie, the real couple at the heart of the shoot, read heartfelt vows from a handmade velvet book as they stood framed by a backdrop of blush, coral, orange and yellow florals. The décor dazzled with dynamic arrangements throughout, each showcasing unexpected blooms or shades. Lush centerpieces burst forth and complemented woven chargers and retro-style linen napkins, adding elements of texture. Loved ones indulged in delectable rainbow desserts and refreshing mocktails, celebrating the couple’s love in style. Colorful umbrellas strategically placed along the beach created a striking visual element. The takeaway? Modern weddings, from large soirées to intimate gatherings, are increasingly incorporating personalized décor in even the smallest of details. “Look around your home. Look in your closet. What do you like to surround yourself with? Textures, colors, patterns ... bring that into your wedding,” Schubert advises.
