SENTIMENTAL JOURNEY: A vintage white fur muff that her grandmother wore to her own wedding 55 years ago set the tone for a glamorous celebration at the Benson Hotel in downtown Portland.
HIGH DRAMA: “I’ve always been a vintage connoisseur, and I knew I wanted to incorporate my love for vintage somehow,” says the bride who also has her own bohemian-style stationery design company, the City Hippy Studio. With the ornate décor of the historic Benson Hotel as a backdrop, the couple opted for a deep and rich palette of reds, oranges and greens. Dramatic blooms such as amaranthus (otherwise known as “love-lies-bleeding”), roses and lilies made for gorgeous floral displays.
VINTAGE ELEMENTS: Instead of bouquets for her bridesmaids, the bride scoured vintage stores to find ten vintage fur muffs that were then decorated with corsages. Other finds included signage made from repurposed vintage art and former medicine bottles that became vases for place settings. Crystals from a vintage chandelier were hand-sewn to the ends of table runners made by the bride’s grandmother.
PERSONAL TOUCHES: During the ceremony, which incorporated marriage advice from Jenafer’s parents, the couple read from leather-bound books that held their handwritten vows. “We heard over and over again after the ceremony that it was very “us,” recalls the bride. “It’s the greatest compliment.”
