In the colder months, nothing warms the soul faster than a good love story. Especially one that’s enveloped in a luxurious red. The clean modern lines and panoramic views of Amaterra—the private winery, vineyard and social club within Portland’s West Hills—played host to this romantic, wintry celebration, where a rich palette of cherry, burgundy, plum and soft lilac was layered with texture to evoke a sophisticated, seasonal vibe.
“The goal was to create an experience that showcased the venue’s potential through a thoughtfully designed indoor ceremony installation, highlighting how the space can transform for weddings year-round,” says Amanda Bloom, owner of AJP Events, which created the concept in partnership with Amaterra for its annual winter wedding open house. “While the design leans into a romantic winter mood, it was also curated to resonate with couples planning celebrations in the summer, demonstrating the space’s versatility.”
Two complementary ceremony installations showcase that versatility—one an outdoor celebration with asymmetrical platforms and wild arrangements of small blooms and dried leaves; the other an indoor vignette styled with structured blossoms and drapery.
At reception tables, more romantic red. Tonal linens, etched glassware and tailored paper goods strike a balance between restraint and intricacy, allowing the florals to take the lead without overwhelming the setting. Additional details deepen the narrative, from the artful stationery suite that includes subtle vineyard motifs to the sculptural cake dressed in florals and fresh fruit.
