Married and celebrated: MT. Hood Organic Farms, Hood River Date: July 30, 2017
A GORGE GATHERING: Spencer and Ruby were both in the thick of medical residencies at the time of planning their wedding, so they enlisted the help of Katy Haley of Bridal Bliss to help them pull together an event that highlighted the beauty of the Columbia River Gorge, incorporated traditions from Ruby’s Indian heritage, and was full of fun and surprises.
CINEMATIC SOUNDS: The condensed Hindu ceremony took place in view of Mount Hood and incorporated a baraat, or a groom’s procession, during which Spencer arrived atop a white horse. In a quirky twist on tradition, his arrival was set to music from classic Bollywood films. The Hindu ceremony was followed by a traditional Protestant ceremony in which the couple exchanged vows. Afterward, the couple added another cinematic touch, with music from the throne-room scene in Star Wars: The Last Jedi playing during the recessional.
SWEET THINGS: After a family-style dinner made from local ingredients, guests enjoyed signature cocktails, decadent treats from Voodoo Doughnut and Staccato Gelato, and a sweet serenade of “Vision of Love” by the bride to the groom to kick off the dance party.
