Amy and Greg spent their first year together in a long-distance relationship, traveling between her home in Austin, Texas, and his in Portland. When Amy decided to decamp to Oregon to be closer to Greg, the couple turned the cross-country drive into an epic road trip, which took them through sunbaked Southwest towns and the artist community of Marfa on their way to the verdant Northwest. For their wedding day, they wanted to capture the striking colors and textures they encountered during that drive.
A greenery arbor and lush swags over the reception tables represented Oregon, while dusty, muted colors in the florals, linens and even the playful balloon installations evoked the Southwest. Guests took home bottles of Topo Chico mineral water as favors, and the couple stood on a Southwestern-inspired rug when they exchanged vows. “We wanted our wedding to feel intimate, playful and communal, including the people who had supported our relationship,” says Amy.
