I should be asleep. I have a rare moment of actually having the capability to go to bed and get more than a few hours of rest, but I'm not. For those of you who are artists, you photographers, you painters, you dancers, where do you draw your inspiration? Is it music? Or a shadow? Art museums or the way a new dish tastes? I've found recently that I've had difficulty being inspired by peers in my industry. That's not to say I don't see beautiful work, I do. But it doesn't make me want to rush from my current task to go do something new. Lately, I've looked to other things to inspire me: the way leaves dip in water as the breeze passes over a river, how a groom looks at his bride for the first time, how a tomato just picked from the garden, ripe and soaked with the sun tastes of summer. Instead of sleeping I'm watching @netflix 's new spin off #ChefsTable, this time the chefs are only from France. If you haven't had a chance to watch the series, do it. Watching just one episode fills me with ideas in the same way that visiting an art museum for hours fills my sketch pad. Chefs Table inspires me to look around and pull from my surroundings in my work. It makes me hungry to find new ways of seeing things I see constantly in the same light. It makes me want to be more, to find better ways of doing what I do both in practice and in my craft. So. To my fellow artists, what inspires you?
