From the polka dot bridesmaid dresses
to the classic convertible car, the retro décor from Colleen and Drew’s wedding
perfectly balanced the urban interior of Portland’s Yale Union. What first
struck me was the vibrant turquoise wall, which made for the perfect backdrop. Enlisting
the help from friends and family, most of the details were DIY projects,
including the floral arrangements and decadent desserts. The bride even wore
her mother’s vintage wedding gown. Keep scrolling to see more and head to the

From the Bride:
“Drew and I have been together 10 years; we’ve lived in several places
and have friends all over. The inspiration for our wedding was to get everyone
we love under one roof to party with one another and celebrate the fact that
we’ve spent a decade together and would like to keep it going forever.
There was very little that wasn’t DIY. All of our friends and family
really came together to make this wedding spectacular. Drew’s Aunt Sharon, was
our brilliant florist and put so much time into the wedding decor. Our dear friend
Brian, an attorney, made all of our immaculate desserts. My mom spent many
hours preparing the decorations. I grew a lot closer with my brother’s
girlfriend staying up late working on wedding tasks with her and my mom.
Instead of table numbers each table was a romantic film that Drew and I
love. Drew is a graduate student at UCLA studying film archiving so movies have
been a central part of our relationship. The movies spanned from
Harold Lloyd’s silent comedy, The Freshman to Silver Linings Playbook.”
