After falling into disrepair and lying empty for 50 years, the iconic Astor Building, situated in downtown Astoria, has been restored. With that restoration, it now features a grand event space for weddings and receptions in one of the Pacific Northwest’s most culturally rich destinations. Once a crumbling remnant of Astoria’s heyday, the new venue, called The Ruins at the Astor, embraces the city’s modern culture while celebrating its history. The Astor Building was designed to be the tallest building on the Oregon coast and still stands as a pillar of Gothic Revival architecture in the oldest settlement on the West Coast. The expansive event space is two stories high at its center, with eight Corinthian columns that rise to the ceiling on two sides and a stunning mezzanine that encircles the space. The venue is replete with Gothic architectural details, including the large, peaked windows that provide a resplendent backdrop for brides and grooms. With seating for as many as 300 people, The Ruins is a unique venue for couples seeking a grand setting in a historic locale.
