How They Met: Nicole and Jim had known each other for seven years but it wasn’t until a Fourth of July group vacation to San Francisco with friends four years ago that they realized their friendship was turning into something more. How He Proposed: Jim surprised Nicole atop Waimea Canyon in Kauai, Hawaii though airport security almost blew his secret when they pulled him aside to search his luggage—with the ring hidden inside. How They Wed: The couple sealed the deal steps away from the Willamette River in the backyard of Jim’s father’s home in Wilsonville. Wearing peacock feathers in their hair, the bride and her bridesmaids walked barefoot down the lush, grassy aisle carrying calla lilies. As a nod to their shared Celtic heritage (Jim’s family is Scottish, Nicole’s is Irish), the groom and his groomsmen wore kilts with their family tartans, and the couple used a traditional oathing stone to symbolically solidify their vows. How They Live Happily Ever After: After a luxurious honeymoon in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, Nicole and Jim settled into their new Beaverton home that they share with their lab mix dog. Jim works at U.S. Bank and Nicole at Intel.
