A PLACE IN TIME: Timberline held a special place in Amy’s heart as the location her grandfather first visited as a young man and the inspiration for moving their whole family to the Pacific Northwest from Missouri. “My grandpa was very sick at the time of our wedding and he has since passed away,” says Amy. “He was able to attend the ceremony and visit his beloved Timberline one last time, which was very special to all of us. I loved having him there.”
RINGING ENGAGEMENT: “Both our rings were made from a ring Brian found as a child and he had saved for his fiancée one day,” says Amy. “He surprised me when he proposed with a ring he designed and had made from the ring he saved.”
DAY’S WORTH OF JOY: “The schedule of the wedding day was not very traditional but it suited us well,” says Amy. An immediate-family-only brunch at Timberline offered the couple a chance to spend quality time with their family before the couple dressed into their wedding finery for the ceremony at the foot of Timberline’s iconic stone fireplace. Photos came afterwards. “They were so fun and relaxed because the ceremony was over and our nerves had calmed down,” says Amy. A small reception back in Portland topped off the day. “We were really able to enjoy our guests because there were only about 60–70 people total. It is very hard to limit your parents’ and your own guest list, but it was so worth it! I learned to not be afraid to do the unconventional thing or go against the grain.”
